VSEA - Vancouver Student Entrepreneurship Association (formerly TEC UBC) was founded in 2004 by a small group of Engineering Physics students at UBC. Now in its fifth year of existence, it has expanded to serve not only all of UBC, but the Vancouver student community as well. Its mission is to foster and to bring together the most promising student entrepreneurs in Vancouver to form important networks for future innovation. The group regularly invites local professionals, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs to share their successes and challenges of starting up a company. In addition, VSEA hosts networking events and celebrates the Entrepreneurship Week Canada in November.
Each year, students can present their business ideas to a panel of judges featuring investors and successful entrepreneurs at the annual Bright Ideas competition. In addition, there are various networking opportunities, especially at the Young Entrepreneurs Dinner, which is a gala dinner where students can expand their network.
