As of June 1, 2009, TECUBC has been officially renamed to Vancouver Student Entrepreneurship Association (VSEA). This name change reflects the expansion in the scope of the club. VSEA will continue to promote entrepreneurial spirit across student bodies throughout the Lower Mainland.

about us

The Technology Entrepreneurship Club was founded in 2004 by a small group of Engineering Physics students at UBC. Now in its fourth year of existence, it has expanded to serve not only all of the engineering faculty, but computer science, business and arts as well. Its objectives are to foster both undergraduate and graduate student entrepreneurs and other students with the same mindset. The club regularly invites local professionals, venture capitalists and intellectual property experts to share their successes and challenges of starting up a company. In addition, TEC will be hosting networking events such as a Wine and Cheese, and be participating in the Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Last year, the club expanded its operations to host movie nights as well as networking events, and to co-host the first annual Bright Ideas competition, where students present their business plans to local venture capitalists and hear feedbacks on their plans. We will continue to host these events, and to expand our partnerships with various organizations at UBC and in the Vancouver community. This year, we are undergoing major expansion and will be touching base with around 10,000 students throughout the year including 7,000 students during Imagine Day itself.

our vision

To bring together students with the same entrepreneurial mindset and to enhance and transform the UBC community into one that actively seeks to nurture the student entrepreneurial spirit to imagine and to innovate.
